Ken-Mar Rescue is a Los Angeles, foster-based, small dog rescue that adopts throughout Southern California and beyond. Mission Statement: To provide the best experience to the lives we save and to help them navigate their way home using a blend of compassion and technology.
Perry is an adorable, 1 yr old, little girl.
Perry weighs 13 lbs. And is fully grown.
Perry is microchipped, spayed, up-to-date with all of her shots, dewormed and is on a monthly flea and tick treatment.
Google says her breed blend is a Chihuahua & Terrier and a little Heinz 57 mixed in.
All we know is that she is a bundle of sugar wrapped in an adorable fur package.
She loves her humans and greets them with joy and plenty of tail wags. She enjoys interacting with new friends and learning new things. If you have a treat in your hand to share with her she’s going to have fun with you!
Perry gets along well with small, gentle animals but prefers the company of her people. She has an endearing personality, loves cuddles and belly rubs, and is a great snuggler. When not melting hearts for a treat, she can be found inspecting the perimeter of the garden and sniffing around outside.
Favorite toy: Squeaky toys
Favorite food: Hard boiled egg
Pet p*eve: Going night night in my crate.
Known accomplices: The squirrels on “squirrel patrol.”
Naughtiest deed: Checking the perimeter fencing for weaknesses.
Favorite pastime: Learning new things
Back story:
Found stray and brought to a shelter, then rescued by KenMar Rescue

PERRY. ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
The following information is the most recent update we have received from Perry’s foster parents. We have made this information available directly on our website to help you, our adopters, learn more about Perry prior to inquiring about a meet & greet.
Please read thoroughly before reaching out to us—this will help reduce the number of emails we receive every day and in turn, allow us to respond to the emails we do receive more quickly!
Please note that a dog's behavior often varies from one environment to another, and a decompression period in a new environment can last days to months.
General Personality: Shy at first then outgoing especially with the person she trusts the most. Shy with new people and skeptical but will usually let them pet her after sniffing.

8:00am- go out for p*e
8:30am- eat
9:00am- cuddles
10:00am- play!
12:00pm- snacks
2:00 nap
4:00 play
5:30- dinner
6:00pm- go out for p*e
7:00pm- tv time and wind down
9:00-10:00- bed time
Is the dog housebroken?
Crate trained at night, given plenty of time to relieve herself outside. Is learning the floor plan and how to let us know when she needs a break outside.
House Training Progress:
She’s great at going potty outside.
Behavior Around Dogs, Cats, or Kids: She’s good with dogs. Curious at first but then loves to play. Not interested in dogs who aren’t interested in her (dogs that yap at her).
Energy Rating (1 = very high; 5 = very low): 3
Leash Walking Rating (1 = difficult; 5 = perfect): 3
Leash Behaviors:
Social puppy that wants to please and smell everything. Typical puppy behavior, loves to explore. Needs patience, redirection and attention. Slowly learning the routine.
Crate Rating When Left Alone:
3 - Learning to love her crate.
Exhibits fidgety behavior about 15-20 minutes then settles down. We cover her crate at night with a light blanket, towel or cotton sheet and that helps to calm her puppy energy down and gives her the cues that it is night night time.
Does the dog sleep through the night?
Yes. If she feels your presence in the bedroom, she’s more comfortable and confident to start her sleeping.
Other Quirks:
She likes to be at your feet when you are working from home. That’s her favorite spot. She wants to be the best helper.
What makes him/her happy? Attention, food, patience, training, mental and physical activities.
What makes him/her nervous or unhappy?
She is growing more confident everyday. She is slowly becoming more independent and relaxed. Growing to realize that her current and future humans will never abandon her.
Other Displayed Behaviors:
She is currently healing from a spay surgery that uncovered her carrying seven fetuses and was mid-gestation! She is gaining a little weight to improve her health, immunities, coat, and overall condition.
Current Walking Device: Leashharness and collar
Currently Eating: Taste of the Wild Bison kibble with one smashed hard boiled egg and small spoonful of canned pumpkin at each meal.

Please note:
❤️We prefer ADULTS, no small kids, (gentle, animal-friendly/respectful teens ok).
❤️We prefer HOME OWNERS with a SECURED YARD.
❤️We will ask you about your Succession Plan. Meaning, in the event that you are no longer able to provide for your new family member: who will get the dog, where is this stated in writing, etc. The Successor person will be asked to participate in the adoption process (zoom calls, in-person meeting, etc.) so they are part of the decision-making from the beginning and are aware of the orphan’s needs.
❤️We are located in Northern California, 2.5 hrs east of San Francisco (on the way to Yosemite). Please consider transportation logistics to meet (and possibly adopt) your new family member. Also, if things do not work out, please bear in mind that you would be responsible to return the orphan back to us.
❤️Vet, petsitting, future medical expenses, etc., for the life of the pet will be your responsibility. As pet parents, please consider these commitments before applying.
