CoActive Content produced the play, "The King of the Desert," a true story about a Mexican American boy's journey of self-discovery through adulthood and the realization of his dreams and his search to find out who he really is in an environment that does not encourage self-expression. He learns to survive by becoming anyone other than himself in ti...mes of crisis, from a Mexican Revolutionary po
et, to a Mayan Shaman, to a Werewolf. CoActive Content donated 10% of proceeds from the World premiere run to the National Latino Children's Institute (NLCI), the only national Latino organization that focuses exclusively on children. The new production coming up this fall will also donate 10% to NLCI, the Oscar de la Hoya Foundation, and the Youth Policy Institute (YPI). CoActive Content is also in post-production with Smalltown Productions on a documentary, "Change is Gonna Come," under the direction of Director's Guild of America Award winning and Emmy Award nominated director, Tasha Oldham. The film focuses on the cross country journey of 27 strangers united by a belief in Non-Violent Conflict Resolution and performing together in Stacey Martino's play, "The Gift of Peace," playing to over a thousand people in 8days throughout the U.S. CoActive Content's next projects include "Footlz," a series of children's book teaching discipline through empathy rather than a system of punishment and rewards and "Refuge," a play about the effects of genocide to benefit the nonprofit i-ACT.
