MOVIE: JUMPER (2008)

Jumper is a 2008 science-fiction action film directed by Doug Liman and starring Hayden Christensen, Rachel Bilson, Jamie Bell, and Samuel L. Jackson. The movie is loosely based on the 1992 novel of the same name by Steven Gould.

The story follows David Rice (Hayden Christensen), a young man with the ability to "jump" or teleport to any location he has seen or has a clear picture of in his mind. David discovers his powers as a teenager and uses them to escape his troubled home life and travel the world. He eventually settles in New York City, where he lives a luxurious lifestyle by stealing money from banks and various other locations.

David's life takes a dramatic turn when he is discovered by a group of hunters known as "Paladins," led by Roland Cox (Samuel L. Jackson), who are dedicated to killing jumpers, whom they believe are an abomination and a threat to the natural order. David is forced to flee and seek refuge with his childhood friend Millie Harris (Rachel Bilson), whom he has not seen in years.

As David and Millie reconnect, he reveals his powers to her and takes her on a trip around the world. However, their happiness is short-lived as the Paladins catch up to them and Millie is taken, hostage. David teams up with another jumper, Griffin (Jamie Bell), to rescue Millie and take down the Paladins.

In the final showdown, David and Roland face-off, and David discovers that the Paladins are actually religious extremists who believe that jumpers are an affront to God. David ultimately defeats Roland and saves Millie, but not before the Paladins destroy David's childhood home and his father's grave. David and Millie part ways, but David continues to explore the world, seeking out other jumpers and trying to understand the origins of his powers.
