Happy !

On March 31, we celebrate the humble crayon and the big ideas it inspires. In 1999, D&P installed the World of Crayola experience, including a mounted mosaic of crayons just like this one that still lives on our wall. Each piece reflects our mountmaker's precision, whose careful planning and ex*****on allowed the designer’s vision to shine. Hundreds of colors come together, each distinct, yet working in harmony to create a single, expressive whole.

That collaboration mirrors what makes crayons--and museum exhibits--so powerful. A vast palette invites creativity, while thoughtful structure turns imagination into something lasting. Time has softened the colors a bit, but the story remains clear: craftsmanship and creativity are strongest when they work together. Today, pick a favorite color, notice how it plays with the others, and celebrate the joy found in both design and making.

Happy West Virginia Day!

Today we celebrate the 35th state to join the Union and the rich history, culture, and character that make West Virginia truly one of a kind.

From the Allegheny and Appalachian Mountains to the deep roots of its small communities, West Virginia’s landscape and traditions have shaped generations of storytellers, makers, musicians, and innovators. It’s a state where history runs deep—through coal seams, along mountain ridges, and in the voices and craft of its people.

At D&P, we had the honor of bringing that history to life in 2009 through the new exhibits at the West Virginia State Museum. The project explored the state’s story in depth, blending immersive scenic environments—including a walk through coal mine—with artifacts, media, and environments that reflect the spirit of The Mountain State. It remains one of our most memorable projects, and we’re proud to have played a part in sharing West Virginia’s heritage with visitors from near and far.

Today, we join in recognizing the state’s contributions—from Civil War history and industrial heritage to its artists, authors, explorers, and groundbreakers.

Happy to all who call West Virginia home—and to everyone who loves the Mountain State as much as we do.

On , we’re celebrating the Land of 10,000 Lakes and the Minnesotans who care deeply for their natural heritage, scientific curiosity, and sense of place. Minnesota’s landscapes, from the cool shores of Lake Superior to the northern forests and prairies, inspire a culture of stewardship rooted in history, nature, and community.

We had the privilege of learning from that spirit while working on the Bell Museum’s exhibits in St. Paul. The project brought together science, art, and the environment to reflect the state’s distinctive ecology. Moving historic dioramas, supporting new exhibits, and helping bring the museum’s vision to life offered us a deeper appreciation for the stories, wildlife, and research that shape Minnesota.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a place that celebrates the natural world so thoughtfully. We look forward to visiting again and experiencing Minnesota’s beauty—indoors and out.

Few animals carry a legacy as deep as the Arabian horse. Their story stretches back thousands of years to the deserts of the Arabian Peninsula, where Bedouin tribes formed close relationships with these horses. Those early bonds shaped a breed known for endurance, intelligence, loyalty, and an uncanny ability to connect with people.
In 2010, D&P fabricated and installed the Al-Marah Arabian Horse Galleries at the International Museum of the Horse.

The Al Marah Arabian Horse Galleries illuminate the Arabian horse’s enduring global influence, tracing its origins, cultural significance, and impact on modern breeds. Through artifacts, media, and immersive storytelling, the galleries highlight the breed’s beauty, intelligence, and historic partnership with people, offering visitors a deeper understanding of one of the world’s oldest and most important horses.

We’re proud that our work helps museums tell stories that have endured for centuries.

How has the connection between people and animals shaped the stories that inspire you most?

Museums have a way of settling the heart. Visitors slow down, wander, discover, and connect with stories that stretch far beyond the moment. There is something genuinely good for you in standing inches from an artifact, hearing a familiar sound in an interactive, or noticing a detail in a diorama that pulls you in.

Museums remind us to breathe, look closely, and feel something real. That’s good for the heart in every possible way. Happy Valentine's Day!

On Day, we're thinking about how both mail and museums are social connectors.

We loved working on the exhibits at the Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum, where our team fabricated and installed experiences that emphasize the story is about connection. Every letter starts with a simple idea: someone is thinking about you. Visiting a museum demonstrates the same thing.

The William H. Gross Stamp Gallery offers visitors an immersive look at how mail moves, how stamps are designed, and how the postal system has shaped communication.

We’re grateful for the mail carriers who bring letters, stories, and moments of joy to our doors and the exhibits that tell their stories. Today, we celebrate the process that connects us and the people who carry it through. So, when you get a chance, and .

While ice and snow are keeping us inside, we are still finding ways to wander great museums around the world. Travel + Leisure pulled together a list of 16 famous museums you can explore from home, complete with interactive virtual tours that let you skip the lines, avoid the crowds, and stay as long as you like.

We have been “visiting” icons like the Louvre, the British Museum, the Vatican Museums, and the Guggenheim. But a couple of our favorites are right here in Washington, D.C.:

National Gallery of Art: Take a virtual walk through galleries filled with works by Calder and other masters, explore the sculpture garden, and dive into online exhibits.
Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum: Get an up-close digital look at the Wright Flyer, Neil Armstrong’s Apollo 11 spacesuit, historic rockets, and even the cockpits of Navy fighter jets.
Experiences like these are a reminder of how powerful well-crafted stories, environments, and details can be, whether you are online or standing in a gallery surrounded by exhibits that teams like ours help bring to life.

Here is the full Travel + Leisure list so you can start your own virtual museum tour:

Enjoy, stay warm, and dream about your next in-person museum visit. We cannot wait until the ice melts.
