itual services and her church, Deliverance Prayer Revival Tabernacle. Being led by the spirit of God, she started to have prayer meetings in various homes. February 1979 proved to be a year of firsts. The first home prayer was held in her mother's home, the late Ms. This meeting consisted of Evangelist Dewitt, her children, sister, and Sister Queen Ester Long, and family. The Lord blessed and the next week another prayer meeting was held and more people joined in with the prayer. As God continued to bless, more and more people joined in with the desire to pray. The group traveled from home to home having prayer. During one of the prayer meetings God spoke to Evangelist Dewitt and said, "Build My People A Temple". By the month of May 1979, God had blessed tremendously and many souls were saved and many had joined with the group. It was decided to call the group a Prayer Band because many had banded themselves together in prayer. By the summer, the group had grown larger and the houses were filled. Therefore, prayer meetings and teaching of the Word of God was done outdoors under the pecan and oak trees. People were still being saved and delivered. Consequently, the group enlarged. During the winter months, the Prayer Band moved to an old pack house in the Dothan community where they continued to seek God. In 1981, the pack house was too small for the group. Fervently, the members of the prayer band sought God for guidance in securing a building for worship. On May 10, 1982, God blessed the prayer band with a building in the Bennett Town section of Loris, South Carolina. The members were so grateful to God for this place to worship. Evangelist Luevenia Dewitt became the founder and establisher of Deliverance Prayer Temple. The doors of the church opened with 43 members, (1) evangelist, (2) missionaries, (1) deacon, (3) trustees, (15) choir members, and Pastor Luevenia Dewitt. To date, there are (251) members, (8) evangelists, (1) youth minister, (3) deacons, (1) deacon-elect, (6) trustees, (9) missionaries, (7) board of director members, and (52) choir members. In 1988, an outreach ministry was started in Conway, South Carolina, because of the growing concern for souls outside of the immediate congregation. The ministry was started by Pastor Dewitt and continues under her leadership. This ministry has touched many lives and drawn souls to Christ. On May 8, 1995, sixteen members of Deliverance Prayer Temple enrolled in the Amora Bible Institute in Fayetteville, North Carolina. This class enabled students to earn a college degree and enhance the knowledge of their ministry. Also, the church was classified as a learning center under the Amora Bible Institute. In November of 2003, God spoke to Pastor Dewitt in a dream about a field that she was waiting in. As the dream began to unfold, the field represented a harvest of souls (Luke 10:2) in an area unfamiliar to her. On January 13, 2004, the Lord allowed Pastor Dewitt to begin an outreach ministry in Fair Bluff, North Carolina. Once a month services are held at the National Guard Armory, and the Lord has continued to bless his people through salvation. Although Deliverance Prayer Temple was located in the Bennett Town section of Loris for fourteen years, the group remained dedicated to seeking God and being faithful to the vision He gave. This vision to build a church was shared and embedded in the spirits of the members. For without a vision, the people will perish. The vision of a new temple manifested on Sunday, March 3, 1996, the new Deliverance Prayer Temple located Highway #9 East in Loris, South Carolina was dedicated. The temple was built for the GLORY OF GOD. It is a place where all of God's people may come to worship.
