The team just keeps getting better! In February, all of our level 2 and 3 students competed in Virtual Challenge Meet #4. In this statewide competition, Longview HS finished 25th in the state, 10th in 6A, 3rd in the region, and 1st in our district behind scores from Moses Hough, Sreen Chiluveri, and Bryn Priddy. Moses was also recognized individually for finishing 94th in the state, 38th in 6A, and 39th among all Juniors.

Our district meet will be held on the 27th in Forney.

02/10/2025

Saturday, we sent a team to the Hallsville Tournament of Hearts. Junior Moses Hough and Freshmen Gustavo Zarate and Kingston Still were able to secure a first place team finish in the large school division.

Individually, Moses earned first place overall on the written test and Gustavo finished 4th in the large school division.

The next meet for the Lobos will be the District Tournament on 3/27 in Forney.

In January, all of our level 3 students competed in Virtual Challenge Meet #3. In this statewide competition, Longview HS finished 16th in 6A, 5th in the region, and 1st in our district behind scores from Moses Hough, Sreen Chiluveri, and Benjamin Cox. Moses was also recognized for finishing 37th among all juniors in the state.

In November, the UIL Computer Science team competed in Virtual Challenge Meet #2. In this statewide competition, we finished 23rd in 6A, 8th in the region, and 1st in our district behind scores from Sreen Chiluveri, Moses Hough, and Sebastian Miller.

To UIL Computer Science team of Bryn Priddy, Sreen Chiluveri, Mason Huntsinger, and Gustavo Zarate competed at the Pine Tree "Walk the Plank" Invitational today. They finished 2nd place in the large school division with 454 points - 20 points behind first place Hallsville.

Those earning individual honors in the large school category were:
- Bryn Priddy - 2nd Place (142)
- Sreen Chiluveri - 3rd Place (136)
- Mason Huntsinger - 6th Place (66)

The UIL Computer Science team started off their year by competing in Virtual Challenge Meet #1. In this statewide competition, we finished 19th in 6A, 7th in the region, and 1st in our district behind scores from Sreen Chiluveri, Moses Hough, and Brendan Priddy.

Coach Main had the opportunity today to attend a keynote address from nationally renowned speaker and artificial intelligence thought-leader, Todd McLees. The presentation was titled Building AI Agility: Empowering Human Flourishing in the AI Economy. Coach Main took home a better idea of how recent and expected generative AI advancements are already impacting businesses and the economy at large and is now more prepared to prepare his students for the AI future. Thank you Kilgore College for being such a wonderful educational partner of LHS and for bringing opportunities like this to our back yard!

10 of our level 1-3 students spent their morning attending the UIL student activity conference at Tyler Junior College. The students attended five 45 minute sessions presented by Dr. Shyamal Mitra from the University of Texas Department of Computer Science. Topics included CS contest rules, computational thinking, Java syntax, basic algorithms, and computing resources. Thank you Dr. Mitra for an engaging and educational morning!

Today Sreen and Moses received their letterman jackets for advancing to regional competition last year! We are to see what our co-captains can do in their Junior year of competition this year in 6A!
