Gregg County Skywarn
The emphasis of the effort is often focused on the storm spotter, an individual who takes a position near their community and reports wind gusts, hail size, rainfall, and cloud formations that could signal a developing tornado. Another part of SKYWARN is the receipt and effective distribution of National Weather Service information.
Good morning Shreveport partners,
The threat for severe thunderstorms will increase late this afternoon through this evening over much of the region. An ENHANCED risk for severe thunderstorms is in place for much of East Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, Southwest Arkansas, and Northwest Louisiana, with a SLIGHT risk for much of the remainder of the region.
Timing and Overview:
Initial supercells look likely to fire in East Texas late this afternoon (after 4-5 pm), with large hail and damaging winds being the primary threats. Isolated tornadoes will be possible as well, with the potential for a cluster(s) of severe storms to form by early evening and quickly shift east, exiting the region by or just prior to midnight tonight.
Impacts:
Large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes will all be possible late this afternoon through this evening.
