Demond Cornerlius Lively (51)
Demond Lively, lovingly known to family and friends as “Mond,” was born on June 12, 1975, to Sherry and Arthur Lively. From an early age, he developed a strong foundation of faith, accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was baptized at Galilee Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Lamar F. Jones, where his walk with Christ began.
Mond received his education through Hallsville Independent School District. As a young boy, he discovered a passion for horses, deer hunting, and fishing—interests that would remain close to his heart throughout his life.
To know Mond was to know someone with a rare and remarkable gift. Horses were more than animals to him—they were family. He possessed an extraordinary ability to ride, train, and shoe horses with a calmness and understanding that amazed everyone who watched him work. Many affectionately said he should have been called the “Horse Whisperer,” because it truly seemed as though he spoke their language.
When he wasn’t caring for horses, Mond could often be found on the water with a fishing pole in his hand alongside his favorite fishing partners—his beloved grandmother, Madea, and his dear cousin J.D. Beck. Whether hunting in the woods or fishing by the lake, those quiet moments brought him peace and happiness.
Mond was a hardworking man who believed in earning an honest living. Throughout the years, he worked for Trinity Industries, Inc. in Hallsville, Texas, and RHE Hatco in Longview, Texas. In 2010, he met the love of his life, Fannie Salazar. Their love led him to Waco, Texas, where he became employed by TYMCO, Inc., continuing his career with dedication and pride.
Although he worked hard, nothing compared to the joy he found in making others smile. Mond never met a stranger. His infectious laugh, quick sense of humor, and larger-than-life personality made him the life of every gathering. There was never a dull moment when Mond was around. He had a way of lifting people’s spirits, turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories, and making everyone feel like family.
One of the greatest blessings of his life was becoming “Lil Papa” to his grandchildren. They were the light of his life, and he treasured every hug, every laugh, and every moment spent with them. His love for his family was unwavering, and he made sure those he loved always knew how much they meant to him.
Mond was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Delores Bell and Lola D. Collins; his grandfather, Jessie Lively; his step-grandfather, James V. Bell Sr.; his great-grandfather, Willie Crayton; his aunt, Jeanette Thibodeaux; and his uncle, Frederic “Jim” Crayton.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his beloved daughter, Nahshea (Jawone) Washington of Hallsville, Texas; his son, Demarcus Lively of Hallsville, Texas; and a very special child who held a special place in his heart, Anita Clark.
He also leaves his loving parents, Sherry and Arthur Lively of Hallsville, Texas; his older brother, Arthur Lively II of Hallsville, Texas; his first cousin, who was truly like a sister, Cashandra Sims of Dallas, Texas; and the love of his life, Fannie Salazar of Waco, Texas.
Cherishing his memory are his grandchildren: Alyssa Lively, Jha’Niah Washington, Ashanti Lively, Tray’Breon Lively, Jawone Washington Jr., Khaza Washington, Brandon Lively, and Demariiean Lively, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to his life.
He is also lovingly remembered by his nephew, Demterious (Zoey) Lively; his nieces, Desiree Lively and Da’Quavia Lively; and his cherished great-nephew, Javon Lively, affectionately known by Mond as “Little Lamb.”
He also leaves to cherish his memory his aunts, Dorothy Dotson of Greenwood, Louisiana, and Betty White of Hallsville, Texas; his uncles, Willie Collins of Dallas, Texas, and Lurie Collins of Houston, Texas; his step-aunt, Velma Bell Clay; his step-uncles, James V. Bell Jr., Clifford L. Bell Sr., Bobby G. Bell Sr., Kenneth L. Bell Sr., and Vince A. Williams; his lifelong best friend, Neal Denton; and a host of loving cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
