According to Breaking Defense, Divergent Technologies plans to produce a key structural component for the Tomahawk cruise missile at its new California manufacturing facility. The company will serve as a secondary supplier for the missile's midbody structure, supporting broader efforts to expand production capacity for critical defense systems.

Divergent's manufacturing approach combines additive manufacturing, robotics, and software-driven design to produce complex components with greater flexibility and scalability. The new facility is expected to play a role in increasing production readiness while helping address growing demand across the defense industrial base.

In this episode of AeroDef Next Gen, we’re exploring how the U.S. Army’s Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) initiative is reshaping battlefield decision-making through data-driven operations.

According to Breaking Defense, the 10th Special Forces Group has joined the Army’s NGC2 prototype experiments, working alongside the 4th Infantry Division to test new approaches for sharing data, accelerating targeting processes, and improving coordination between special operations and conventional forces. The effort is part of the Army’s broader push to modernize command and control for future conflicts.

The experiments, known as the Ivy Sting series, culminated in the recent Ivy Mass exercise, where participants tested NGC2 capabilities in a contested electronic warfare environment. Demonstrations included digital kill chains capable of moving information from sensors to shooters in under two minutes, highlighting the potential for faster, more informed decision-making on the battlefield.

At the center of the effort is a software-defined architecture designed to connect sensors, platforms, and operators across the force, enabling data to move more efficiently between units and domains. The initiative reflects a growing emphasis on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and integrated command-and-control systems across the defense ecosystem.
