What's the difference between Medicare Advantage and a Medicare Supplement plan?

Here's the short version:
Medicare Advantage (Part C)
- Replaces Original Medicare
- Usually $0 or low monthly premium
- Has networks (HMO or PPO)
- Includes drug coverage in most plans
- Out-of-pocket costs vary by usage

Medicare Supplement (Medigap)
- Works alongside Original Medicare
- Higher monthly premium
- See any doctor that accepts Medicare
- Predictable out-of-pocket costs
- Need separate Part D for drugs

Neither is universally better, it depends entirely on your health, your doctors, and your financial situation.

If you're on Medicare and you take prescription medications, you need to know about Part D. Medicare Part D is prescription drug coverage. It's not automatic, you have to enroll in it separately.
What most people miss is that if you skip Part D when you're first eligible and enroll later, you may pay a late enrollment penalty for as long as you have Medicare.

The penalty? 1% of the national base premium for every month you went without coverage.
We help clients understand exactly what Part D covers, which plans fit their medications, and how to avoid costly mistakes.

"What's a deductible?"
It's one of the most common questions we get!
Let us explain it to you.
Your deductible is the amount you pay OUT OF POCKET before your insurance starts paying for most services.

Example: If your deductible is $2,000 and you need a $6,000 procedure:
- You pay the first $2,000
- Insurance covers the rest (based on your plan)

Once you hit your deductible, you typically only pay your copay or coinsurance.
