Founded in 1946 by a Japanese American couple, the Atomic Cafe became a fixture of LA’s Little Tokyo neighborhood. Open until 4 AM, it was the unofficial official after spot for punks, art kids, and all kinds of underworld figures. Closing on Thanksgiving Day 1989, the building housed a succession of other businesses before finally being demolished in 2015.
