SCIRE PTSD Research
Research is being conducted at the Long Beach Veterans Affairs Healthcare System on advancing psychotherapy outcomes for veterans suffering from combat-related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Led by Christopher Reist, MD, the PTSD research team is recruiting soldiers returning from deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan to participate in exposure based treatment to help alleviate the symptoms

Did you serve in Iraq or Afghanistan?
Since your deployment, have you had:
• Repetitive, unwanted memories?
• Sleep problems?
• Nervousness, jumpiness, or irritability?
• Difficulty concentrating?
• Social withdrawal?
If so, you may be eligible to participate in a 12 week treatment study of the current first line treatment for PTSD: Exposure Therapy, combined with a low dose of either D-Cycloserine (DCS) or a sugar pill taken once a week the day of the session only.
Therapy will consist of either a Virtual Reality simulation or Imaginal therapy. All participants will receive this free PTSD intervention and all non-active duty military personnel will receive compensation for post treatment assessments.
