๐Ÿ“ฃ Statement from the Social Work Action Coalition (SWAC) ๐Ÿ“ฃ
The Social Work Action Coalition (SWAC) would like to clarify that we are an independent organization and are not affiliated with the NASW Conference Committee, NASW Arkansas Chapter, or NASW staff. While several members of the SWAC board previously served in leadership roles within NASW, all members of the SWAC board resigned from NASW positions in November 2025. Any communications, decisions, or representations made by NASW after that time were not made by, nor on behalf of, any member of the SWAC board.
Due to recent messages and concerns raised by Arkansas social workers and organizations, we felt it necessary to provide this clarification and further separate SWAC from NASW communications or activities.
To be clear: SWAC is a completely separate organization and operates independently of NASW and its staff. Any implication that SWAC or its leadership is acting on behalf of NASW, particularly regarding our upcoming conference, is inaccurate.
Our SWAC in-person conference will take place next week as scheduled. Contrary to some reports circulating within the community, the conference has not been canceled and will not be offered in a virtual format.
Information and registration for the conference can be found here:

SWAC is proud to host this event with a team that has extensive experience organizing social work conferences in Arkansas, and we look forward to bringing the community together for a strong and engaging program.
Reginald Virgil, who currently serves as the NASW Arkansas Executive Director through the NASW Mississippi office, is not affiliated with SWAC and does not represent the Social Work Action Coalition in any capacity. For questions or concerns related to NASW, individuals may wish to contact:

We appreciate the many Arkansas social workers who have reached out and look forward to a successful conference next week.
