I met Raymond when he was in elementary school and I had the opportunity to fight for the next 8 years to find the right forever family for him. It finally happened, and Ray’s life took a drastic turn for the better.

Raymond’s quiet nature didn’t keep him from being charismatic and from making friends everywhere. His life changed mine and so many others. Tragically, a month before Raymond’s adoption was finalized, he passed away in an accident.

We knew in the middle of our grief that we had to honor his life, his legacy, and his mantra ‘be kind, be respectful, be helpful’ so Project Zero and the Bosch family created the Raymond Bosch Memorial Scholarship in his memory to be given to a graduating senior in foster care who exemplifies the qualities that Raymond embraced- be kind, be respectful, be helpful.

Today, I had the honor of presenting this year’s recipient with a $2500 cash scholarship at the DCFS Graduation Ceremony! We are excited to announce this year’s recipient of the Raymond Bosch Memorial Scholarship - Heidy Umanzor. ❤️ Heidy is headed to college and plans to major in biology with her sights set on becoming a pharmacist. Congratulations, Heidy! We are so proud of you.

One final thought- what if the WORLD took on Raymond’s mantra?? Everything would change.
