We must take action to address the housing crisis πŸ‘‡

Yesterday, I stood with my colleagues to advocate for legislation that would cut red tape, protect renters from private equity firms, and help build new housing units. This included...

π’πžπ§πšππž 𝐁𝐒π₯π₯ πŸπŸπŸŽπŸ‘ - Legislation I introduced to cut red tape and make it easier for families to update and clear up "tangled" property titles, so heirs can more easily claim legal ownership of homes passed down to them.

π’πžπ§πšππž 𝐁𝐒π₯π₯ πŸ•πŸ’πŸ” - Legislation to protect residents in manufactured home (mobile home) communities from unjustified lot rent and fee increases, especially from private equity companies.

π’πžπ§πšππž 𝐁𝐒π₯π₯ πŸπŸ—πŸ’ - Legislation to remove the cap on housing projects currently in the Redevelopment Assistance Capital
Program (RACP) law, allowing the program to better support the housing needs of Pennsylvania and make progress on closing our housing unit gap.

I encourage Pennsylvania Senate leadership to bring these items up for a vote as soon as possible. We must act swiftly to provide relief for people struggling to afford stable housing.

Yesterday, I joined my colleagues in Harrisburg to talk about our plans to address the housing crisis. I spoke about my legislation, SB 1203, that would cut red tape and help people more easily claim legal ownership of homes passed down to them.

I recently co-hosted a policy hearing on addressing rising costs for seniors at ECHOS in Elizabethtown with Senator Nick Miller. We heard compelling testimony from ECHOS Program Director Hailey Spangler, Meals on Wheels of Lancaster Executive Director Feleen Nancarvis, Austin Cawley from LeadingAge PA, and others. As we seek to lower costs and provide better care for seniors, it's critical to hear directly from people who serve our most vulnerable populations on the ground.

We recently celebrated Native Species Day at the Pennsylvania Capitol. Protecting our native wildlife is honorable work, and I'm proud to support the Governor’s Invasive Species Council in combating the spread of invasive species.

This morning at 9:30 AM, I will be participating in a policy hearing with my colleagues focused on lowering your electric bills.

PPL Electric has seen steady growth in its profit margins. We need to ask hard questions about why they are asking for rate increases and how regulators can respond to protect consumers. Tune in live as we dive into this discussion and explore ways to lower energy bills for Pennsylvanians.
