“This has changed my life!” …and she’s not even at the “finish” (aka goal) line yet! 🤩
When I left bedside nursing to pursue aesthetic nursing over 13 years ago, I really had no idea what I was getting myself into. I just knew two things: I loved needles (giving shots, etc at the bedside), and I loved beauty.
There were parts of me that felt like I was abandoning the calling I had to care for others. But if you’ve been a bedside nurse for any amount of time, you know that it looks a lot different than the Florence Nightingale days now, and likely a lot different than you may have envisioned it, prior to becoming a nurse. So much of genuine care is constrained by charting, reimbursement, liability, and rigid protocols, and you’re often chained to providing care that you don’t align with or may not be best for the patient, in the name of a protocol. For me, it got to the point that I knew in my heart it wasn’t something I could be a part of for my entire career, and I had an almost magnetic pull away from it. It wasn’t an easy decision back then, especially because aesthetic nursing was *just* becoming a thing, and was still very taboo, unknown territory. Even members of my own family called aesthetic nursing “superficial”, and felt I’d “regret the decision”.
But here I am, all these years later, having accomplished so much more, and having affected so much more change in human lives, than I was ever going to be able to do at the bedside. The amount of times a patient has told me that I’ve changed their life is not few. And THAT is what it’s all about, isn’t it? Finding the place in the world that you can affect positive change in the biggest way. Aesthetic nursing isn’t superficial, it honors how self-confidence and emotional well-being directly influence a person’s quality of life, allowing them to better show up in their own life and affect positive change, too.
Aesthetic nursing didn’t take me away from caring for others, it brought me back to it. And I’m so grateful.

Can you imagine the weight that has been lifted from her in just 4 weeks? Like many women, her melasma showed up with pregnancy. If you’re a Mama, you know it can be hard enough to see your body change with pregnancy, but those who suffer from melasma feel this on another level. There are no clothes to hide under—the “pregnancy mask” rears its head, loud and proud for all to see.
Give me commitment and trust, and I KNOW I can transform your skin. You know how I know? Because I’ve helped thousands of patients transform theirs. It isn’t always easy, it can sometimes be uncomfortable, and your lifestyle may have to change…but I have never, not once, had a patient who regretted making a commitment TO THEMSELVES to achieve results like this. The best part? You can do this at home with your own two hands—this patient had ZERO treatments in-office.
The journey to healthy skin isn’t just about aesthetics; it's a journey towards self-care and self-love (something so many mothers lose while raising their babies). It's a reminder that our skin, like our stories of motherhood, evolves, and with the right tools, we can rewrite its narrative. Motherhood has already rewritten your narrative in so many positive ways, but don’t let the bad chapters cloud the good ones. Take care of you, SO THAT you can take care of them.
She’s got 8 weeks left of the “active” phase of her protocol, after which much of the inflammation present will subside. Actives, in her case, include retinol and hydroquinone. I’ll then transition her onto a “kinder” protocol to maintain her results. It’s important to note that there is no CURE for pigment disorders—you must continue to give effort in treating them, as well as avoid triggers, for long term success (don’t worry, I’ll help you!). See my “consults” highlight for instructions on how to become a virtual skincare patient.

Need I say more?! 🤩
Years and years of working with MANY other medical grade skincare lines, and I’ve still never seen the results that ZO provides anywhere else. Results that get me EXCITED to walk my patients through their regimens while holding their hand, and give me so much purpose in my career. ZO has “Skin Health” in its name because it’s about just that: skin health restoration. I’d say this patient’s skin health is RESTORED, how ‘bout you?! 🤩👏🏻
