Separation anxiety is a BIG behavioral issue that a good majority of pet owners have to deal with.

Dogs can be destructive like this guy, vocalize for long periods of time, have bladder or bowel control issues, or become nervous nellies when it’s time for you to leave.

Cats can experience separation anxiety, but we don’t see it near as often, as cats are not a pack animal, they prefer to be alone. But, there are special circumstances where cats too can become destructive when their owners leave.
