New projects new sketches

Well here it is. I had such a great time working on this mural for The piece is called “In Bloom” and was inspired by living here in Lincoln. When I moved here in early spring of 2011; everything was dead and various shades of beige. Within a month all the leaves had come back and nature had sprung back to life. What stuck me were two things, the shear volume of trees in this city, (and all the urban creatures that come with it), and the amount of flowers planted in everyone’s yard. As I got to know the place there was, (and still is), a distinct feeling of Americana throughout the city. I chose a mid twentieth century color pallet, and took inspiration from the well of comic and cartoon illustrators that came to the forefront of American pop culture during the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. I hope the city, and more importantly, the people in the University Place neighborhood, enjoy my little shout out. I really enjoyed making it.
