Dance Force

Melissa Baisden was born in 1979, and raised in the big city of Bakersfield, California. Her Mom was born and raised in Lima, Ohio. So, throughout Melissa's childhood she spent time anually in Lima with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Melissa's Mom"s family has been residing in the Allen County area for over 350 years.
Melissa started dancing just 1 week after 3rd birthday. When Melissa turned 12 she started taking lessons from a former George Balanchine trained dancer who danced with ABT (American Ballet Theatre).
Melissa was blessed with many top notch instructors throughout her childhood. Most who went on to be choreographers for the stars, like for Christinan Agularia & Jennifer Lopez. Melissa earned several spotlight positions & solos throughout her training. Melissa always placed 1st & 2nd in all of her solos & her group competitions.
From ages 3 to 18 she was trained in Ballet, Lyrical, Modern, Tap, Jazz, Theatrical, Hip-Hop, Clogging, Acrobats, Gymnastics, Pas de Deux, and her absolute favorite, Pointé.
Melissa was blessed with exceptional training in competitive dance, performing groups, & competitive cheerleading. She started assisting with choreography at 14 years old, teaching classes at 15 years old. By 16, she was a paid instructor at the dance studio teaching 7 of her own classes a week.
When Melissa became an adult she attended Bakersfield College where she completed all associate degree courses in Early Childhood Development. This has helped her excel in the understanding of childern's motor skills and the detail of a child's progression in movement which she applies daily as a dance instructor.
During her adult dance career, Melissa auditioned to dance for Disneyland for their Jungle Book Adventure parade and was invited to dance at Disneyland for the summer. She has been employed as a professional dancer on 3 different professional dance teams & professional cheerleading teams in California and Ohio. Being on these teams gave her the experience of performing in front of large audiences of 19,000 fans every week!
Melissa has so much to teach & share with your childern which she has gained through her years as a student and as a performer.
