🚫 What NOT to Do
1. Don’t assume it’s dead
Cold-stunned iguanas can start moving again once they warm up.
2. Don’t touch it with bare hands
They can wake up suddenly and bite or scratch. They also carry bacteria (like Salmonella).
3. Don’t bring it inside your house
It’s a wild animal — and it may revive fast in the warmth.
4. Don’t pour hot water on it
Sudden temperature change can shock and kill it.
5. Don’t try to keep it as a pet
It’s illegal to keep wild iguanas in Florida without proper permits.
6. Don’t move it unless it’s in danger
If it’s in the road or somewhere unsafe, use gloves or a towel to gently place it nearby — otherwise, leave it alone.
7. Don’t let kids or pets go near it
Even frozen-looking iguanas can lash out once they warm up.
8. Don’t post that it’s “dead” until you’re sure
South Florida cold snaps = zombie iguanas 😅
Let's enjoy the cold weather everyone!!! You know it's temporary!!!
