He had no idea who she really was,

because in the beginning, she didn't look toxic.

She looked hurt, innocent,

and misunderstood.

Like someone who just needed the right man

to finally love her the right way.

And that's exactly what hooked him,

because he is the kind of man who sees someone in pain

and is compelled to help them

because he knows what it's like to be in that kind of pain.

He spent most of his life in that kind of pain.

So when she shared the stories of her pain with him,

he could relate with her. They had deep conversations

and an emotional connection that he never felt before.

And for the first times in his life,

he felt chosen.

He felt like she trusted him

with a side of her that nobody else got to see.

But slowly, over time,

the relationship stopped being about connection

and started becoming about managing her emotions.

Because of her wounds, he had to watch his tone,

choose his words carefully.

And he found himself replaying conversations in his head,

trying to figure out what he said wrong this time.

Because every time there was an issue,

somehow it ended up with him apologizing.

Because of the way he made her feel,

the way that what he said or did hurt her.

And without even realizing it,

anytime he tried to address something that she did,

he ended up having to defend how he reacted,

constantly trying to Explain himself,

trying to prove his intentions,

trying to show he's not the man she's painting him out to be.

And the more he tried to fix it,

the worse it got.

Because what he didn't understand

is that she's not trying to resolve anything.

She's protecting her image.

And her image revolves around her being the victim.

So every conversation bends back to the same place

where she's hurt and he's the problem.

And over time, he becomes more reactive,

more frustrated, more drained.

Until one day,

he finally snaps.

He raises his voice, he gets angry,

and he finally says what he's been holding in the whole time.

And in that moment,

he's fallen right into her trap.

Because that becomes the proof that she's been looking for.

See? Look how you're acting right now.

See how angry you are? See how controlling you are?

And now everything he's been trying to defend himself against

becomes the story everyone else believes.

And he's left sitting there thinking,

how did I become the bad guy?

I was the one that came in and helped her.

I am the one that's been getting destroyed this whole time.

That's the part that nobody sees.

Because he has no desire to be the victim.

So he doesn't feel a need to share his side of the story.

He just keeps working harder,

hoping that if he keeps treating her right,

eventually everything will get better.

But the hard truth, he has to Accept

is that it will never get better if he keeps doing that.

And the shift he truly needs

is that he needs to realize that you cannot win

when her goal is protecting an image

and his is about finding truth and resolution.

He needs to realize that he doesn't need to win the argument.

He doesn't need to convince her of anything.

He doesn't need to expose her.

He needs to leave her. And the moment he stops explaining,

stops defending himself, stops trying to be understood,

and is willing to walk away,

it's the moment everything can change.

Let her keep her image.

At the cost of losing access to you,

losing control over you.

Stay strong, kings.

It can’t copy your story.
