The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA), in partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard and hundreds of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, successfully concluded the 18th annual Operation Dry Water heightened awareness and enforcement weekend. Wearing a life jacket significantly improves your chances of survival if you capsize or fall overboard. Just as importantly, every passenger should wear a life jacket. Before leaving the dock, make sure everyone on board — including yourself — is wearing one.

Alcohol impairs the physical abilities needed to operate a boat safely, affecting balance, coordination, and reaction time. These impairments can make it more difficult to respond quickly to changing conditions on the water.
