As temperatures drop in Central Kentucky, take steps now to help prevent frozen and burst pipes.

✔️ Let faucets drip slightly—especially those on exterior walls
✔️ Know where your home's water cutoff is
✔️ Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate
✔️ Keep your thermostat set to a consistent temperature, even overnight
✔️ Disconnect and drain outdoor hoses; shut off exterior water valves if possible

If a pipe does freeze, do not use open flames to thaw it. Use warm air from a space heater (kept safely away), a hair dryer, or towels soaked in warm water.

Frozen pipes can burst quickly, causing significant water damage. A few preventative steps now can save time, money, and stress later.

Stay warm, stay prepared, and stay safe.
