In January, a handful of Sayre Middle School students auditioned and applied for The Lexington Theatre Company's summer season. The Lexington Theatre Company is a professional regional theatre nonprofit in Kentucky that bridges the gap between Broadway and local talent. Youth performing apprentices gain experience onstage and learn from professional actors, and the teen technical apprentice program allows students to work alongside industry professionals in various technical theatre disciplines. We are so excited to share that two of our students will be participating in these professional theatre experiences this summer!

Congratulations to Sayre students Joey Montanez '26 and Chris Escobar '27 on earning academic achievement awards from Berea College!

Joey received Berea College’s Financial Freedom Pledge, a transformative scholarship valued at over $250,000. We wish Joey the best of luck at Berea College.

Chris was awarded the Hurst Scholar Award, embodying the mind and spirit of Dr. Hurst as an exceptional first-generation college student, with resilience, perseverance, and grit.
