πŸ“’ Board of Appearance Meeting
πŸ—“ Tuesday, July 14, 2026
πŸ“ Council Chambers, 111 Maiden Lane
πŸ•Ÿ 5:30 PM

The Board of Appearance hears appeals of Town staff decisions denying a Certificate of Appropriateness because a project does not meet the Town's Architectural and Appearance Standards.

Agenda:

1. American Leadership Academy - full-size gym, 12 additional classrooms, and sports complex/stadium expansion, and add on-site stacking lanes, on Innovation Place. Seeking appeal for stacking lanes in front and for a primarily metal gym building rather than brick.

2. Hebrews ADA, LLC - construct a quick-service coffee shop at 5237 Sunset Blvd, at Mineral Springs next to 7-Eleven. Seeking appeal for using a royal blue roof, using a galvanized steel gate for the dumpster rather than black steel, and parking in front of the building. No lighting plan submitted.

3. Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Que - construct a restaurant at 5101 Sunset Blvd, in the Target shopping center. Seeking appeal for too many signs, murals, drive-thru staking lanes on Sunset, no dumpster information was submitted with their plan, and a power transformer with no screening from the road.

πŸ“£ Give feedback on needed road improvements this Thursday, July 2 from 5-7PM at 605 W. Main St, Lexington.

More info:
Lexington County is now holding the 2nd round of public Open House meetings for its first-ever Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP), a long-range effort to improve traffic flow, safety, and mobility throughout our county.

Earlier this spring, about 100 citizens attended 6 public Open Houses held throughout the county and about 2000 citizens completed the county’s transportation survey. Using that public input, the project team has developed potential future traffic conditions and transportation priorities for Lexington County.

Now they are ready to share those results with the public and are asking for additional feedback before the Transportation Improvement Plan is finalized.

This is your opportunity to:
● Review what citizens said during the first round of public input.
● See how that feedback has been incorporated into the planning process.
● Learn about potential future transportation improvements.
● Ask questions directly to the project team.
● Provide additional feedback before the plan moves forward.

Whether your concerns involve traffic congestion, road safety, intersections, future growth, neighborhood connectivity, or daily commutes, your input matters.

Congaree Riverkeeper has filed a federal citizen lawsuit against Alpek Polyester and Eastman Chemical Company, alleging the companies have unlawfully discharged microplastic pellets and toxic chemicals into the Congaree River for years, contaminating areas as far downstream as Congaree National Park. We appreciate their efforts to take action and protect our waterways for future generations. πŸ’™

Today is ELECTION DAY for contested COUNTY COUNCIL seats. Keep in mind, the Town of Lexington sets zoning standards and approvals for development INSIDE town limits. County Council sets zoning standards and approvals OUTSIDE the town limits.

Polls close at 7pm today, Tuesday, June 9.

Develop Lexington County Responsibly (DLCR) believes Lexington County should grow responsiblyβ€”and that voting records matter MORE than campaign promises, flashy billboards, mailers, and digital ads.

The voting records of Beth Carrigg, Larry Brigham, and Glen Conwell reflect consistent support for the responsible growth changes that have been made since 2020, including requiring adequate levels of service for public safety and schools before new developments can move forward (concurrency), reducing housing density and increasing open space and tree protections in developments, and supporting better planning for our county to grow in a more responsible manner moving forward.

Please take a moment to review the voting records below.

An informed community starts with informed voters.

These important County Council seats WILL BE DECIDED on June 9β€”make your plan to vote. πŸ—³οΈ πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Polls will be open from 7am - 7pm this TUESDAY, June 9th at precinct locations with some combined precincts.

If needed, check your β€œsample ballot” at scvotes.gov for your precinct location.
