Today's Mission Moment comes from one of our Safe Voices courtroom advocates -- advocates who help survivors navigate court processes and process the often heavy emotional toll those processes might have on a survivor. The advocate shared:
"This month, one of our shelter residents was planning to attend the arraignment and sentencing of her abuser. A Safe Voices court advocate was able to connect with her at shelter and talk about what to expect at the hearing. The survivor was able to provide a victim impact statement to the court. The survivor shared that it felt good to share her opinion with the court, and she was incredibly thankful to have an advocate’s support throughout the process and at the arraignment.”
