An Exciting Announcement from
Healthy Congregations...
“A sabbatical is more than a vacation, it’s a sacred human ritual for what you want to do differently in life—even if for just a little while.” – The Sabbatical Project
Through its extensive research, The Sabbatical Project, founded by DJ DiDonna, has identified four truths about sabbaticals:
Sabbaticals are peak, transformative life experiences.
Sabbaticals help conquer burnout.
Sabbaticals spark profound, positive changes, providing a safe space to heal, explore, create, and make changes.
Sabbaticals benefit everyone. (thesabbatialproject.org)
Healthy Congregations is pleased to announce that Executive Director and CEO, Rev. Dr. Emlyn Ott, will be taking a six-month sabbatical from July 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024. At the same time, Dr. Ott will also be on sabbatical from her role as Director of Doctor of Ministry Programs and Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology and Leadership at Bexley Seabury. We look forward to hearing more about her plans in future newsletters.
During this six-month time period, the Healthy Congregations Board of Directors has appointed board member Rev. Lynn Carter-Edmands as the Acting Executive Director, responsible for the oversight of Healthy Congregations activities.

Wonderful times, conversations and expanding horizons at the Association of Doctor of Ministry Educators (ADME) national conference. Southeastern University has a lovely campus and the weather included temps in the 70's and a clear, blue sky. Met colleagues from programs from all over the U.S. and Canada. Glad to have in person time with Barbara Mutch from ATS and Jason Poling from St. Mary's Seminary, where we are partnering in the Community Development for the New Age class this summer in Baltimore. Good and thoughtful time.
