n six different buildings. Through specific methodology, SC offers individualized instruction, preparing students for successful transitions toward a meaningful adult life. Schools from as far away as Japan and Australia have visited SC to see the model implemented. Many students receive additional services such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, and adaptive physical education. SC's programs and training techniques have been studied by, and used as models for, schools throughout the area. Several staff members and administrators have been published in professional journals, magazines, and books over the years, as well as having presented on various related topics at state, regional and national conventions. With the construction of the new Love Creek Elementary School, seven classes, three spaces for specialists, and a life skills apartment were included in the specifications. This school opened in 2017. During the spring of 2016, SC received 100% state funding to build a 66,000-square foot modern facility in the Milton-Overbrook Shore area. In addition, full state funding was also included in HOB and Rehoboth’s new schools (through a passed referendum) to replicate the same space allowed for as the new Love Creek Elementary School. The projected opening is in 2019. The Consortium staff of over 200 employees, continue to emphasize teamwork, constant effort, and dedication to improve, refine and expand services to meet the changing needs of a very special population. The strong commitment from a truly dedicated staff has led to the establishment and maintenance of a very successful program for special children – arguably one of the best in the country.
