Sawyer Strong
Thank you for being here and supporting him. 💛
Sawyer was kicking butt in therapy Friday! I couldn't believe that he was able to do the knee taps without any assistance at the end of the video. His balance is getting so much better! 🥰
We also discussed starting breath therapy in speech. He spent so long intubated after his first surgery that his vocal cords got damaged. We need to get with an ENT to have a scope to determine how much damage there still is so that we can start focusing on his breath work and hopefully talking will be less strenuous for him.
He's getting stronger everyday. I don't know that he'll ever completely be back to his old self but he's getting closer everyday. 💛🩶💛

World Brain Tumor Day 🩶
Today we wear gray for Sawyer and for every child, parent, survivor, fighter, and angel affected by brain tumors.
Brain tumors don't just change lives—they change entire families. They bring fear, uncertainty, surgeries, treatments, and challenges no child should ever have to face. But they also reveal incredible courage, resilience, and hope.
Sawyer's journey has shown us what true bravery looks like. Today, we honor his strength and stand with the thousands of families walking this path.
🩶 Wear gray.
🩶 Share awareness.
🩶 Support research.
🩶 Never stop hoping for a cure.

A year ago today Sawyer got to experience being a VIP at Wild Kratts Live. We had so much fun and it was so good seeing the joy return to his face after being stuck in the hospital for so long. 🩶💛🩶💛🩶

Sawyer's labs looked great. He's able to stop bactrim, which is medicine that he's been on since the start of his chemo to protect his body from the harshness of chemo. He needed to continue using it after chemo until his numbers were up in his lab work and he finally reached high enough numbers to stop taking it.
Yesterday was a rainy day here and he had so much fun splashing around puddles. He's also been asking for years to dye his hair. I finally caved because his brother, Parker, just dyed his hair red and had leftover color. Now they have matching red hair. 🥰

Sawyer enjoyed some orange chicken while getting his labs checked today. He had therapy in the morning and labs this afternoon. We don't have the results back yet but fingers crossed all his numbers look good 🤞 he's getting stronger everyday and has more energy than he's had in over a year. I'm so proud of him!

A year ago Sawyer was finally out of the hospital and ready to play again. He loved the playground at Ronald McDonald House! I was nervous to let him play at first but he showed me how strong he was even then.

Brain cancer doesn’t look the same for everyone.
Sometimes it starts with headaches.
Sometimes with vomiting.
Sometimes with being told “it’s just anxiety.”
Listen to your gut. Push for answers.
Awareness can save lives. 🩶💛🩶
