Advanced Colorist Betty Ann

My lovely client showed up for her highlight touch up appointment with a fun new idea and it turned out SO CUTE! I looove how there’s a thin little veil of her natural color on top of the bangs in the front I feel like it gives all the fun and fab of a halo money piece block BUT brings it home a little bit so it doesn’t feel like too much! It’s so balanced, like how can something be so BOLD but subtle at the same time? This is one of my all time favorite placements 💜

This beautiful result came from a multi process service with the help of Redken and Olaplex!
Photos 3&4 were the starting point so after thinking over several possibilities, and with so much going on I decided to even out the base color first! There was too much risk and uncertainty involved in trying to tackle this all at once. So I went in with a natural level 7 melted 1/3 of the way down the hair shaft and used that same shade with big chunky macro weave lowlight pieces to create a seamless dimension and balance that makes it look like this color is growing right out of her head! Next, any of the mids and ends that were left in between the many lowlights I painted a natural pearl level 10 with lift and blended it where it met that level 7 root melt!
This process is what gave us the result in photo #2, which was a perfect even base blended seamlessly into lighter but neutral toned ends.
After drying completely for the last step I used Olaplex No.1 and lightener with 10vol, with some soft back to back foils around the entire perimeter for pop and macro teases for quick dimension all throughout the top and crown. Finished off with a level 9 neutral toner and then Olaplex No.2!
It was a lot but it was so worth it!
Sometimes when there is so much going on to begin with, even a “less is more” end goal ACTUALLY requires a “more is more” approach.
Thankfully with continued after care at home it’s pretty much smooth sailing from here!
