Breaking News: Mayor Kenneth Thomas and the Alderman board has declared State of Emergency in Leland and implement Citywide Curfew.
Due the recent crime rate in Washington County the Mayor has declared that for persons under the age of 21(including juveniles)
Citywide Curfew from 9PM to 6AM for juveniles and all persons under the age of 21 effective immediately.
For persons 21 and Over the age of 21
Citywide Curfew from midnight 12AM to 6AM for all persons 21 Years of age and over, Effective immediately.
🚨Nightclubs and late night establishments must close by 12 midnight (12am) with no patrons allowed on premises after closing .
This curfew shall not apply to:
Law Enforcement personnel
Emergency Response Units
Credentialed members of the press
Individuals traveling to or from work, school , or essential medical care, and
Individuals experiencing homelessness

On July 12, 2021, Marcus “Jay” Flowers, 18 was arrested at the Leland Police Department. Mr. Flowers was charged with murder for his alleged involvement in the March 26, 2021 shooting death of Larry Fults, Jr. that occurred in Leland, MS. Assistant Chief Marcus stated, “Mr. Flowers is now being held at the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility with no bond”.
