Heaven gained another one of my earthly angels today. My dad’s mom—my Mema—put on her wings. 🪽

I learned so much about loving God & family from her.

And we taught each other about loving ourselves.

I’ll never forget when she called and thanked me for wearing my hair natural… because it encouraged her to do the same.

I can’t seem to find the right words to express how incredible of a woman she was.

She had a hand in who I’ve become in ways she may not have ever known.

She taught my dad to love music. He got his voice from her. And I got mine from him.

She taught my dad to love God first. And he showed me what a person led by God looks and feels like.

She taught my dad about work ethic & discipline. That when you feel called to something, it’s yours. Believe it & claim it.
He engrained the same into me.

She taught him that there was always more love to give. And he was a breathing example of that for me.

One of my favorite “games” was racing to see who could say “I love you more” first each time we’d call each other.

She always had a way of reminding me who I was in the simplest ways.
“You hold that head up now.”
“Now you know you’re better than that.”
“God gave you a gift.”

But she never forgot to open and close each conversation with “I love you more, Brianna”.

When my dad passed away I watched a brokenness develop in her that never healed. I am so grateful they are reunited now.

But I sure do I miss them both.

Give our baby girl all the love before she arrives earth-side 💗

I love you more, Mema, to the moon and farther 🌙✨

Swipe for some classic Mike Ray motivation 🥹🥰

Two years without you physically with us. And as great as you look as an angel…

I’ve spent a lot of this year feeling angry. You were my greatest protector. The best advice giver. My most instinctive comforter.

Pieces of my world have felt so shattered and so beyond repair that healing feels unattainable.

But this week I started to understand…. With every breath you praised God. And every lesson you taught me intentionally directed me towards our creator.

You didn’t leave any loose ends because you left everything in God’s hands.

The hands that shape futures. The hands that offer grace.
The hands that give comfort.
The hands of the ultimate protector.

Those are the hands you gently left me in. Your final earthly act of undying fatherly love was to trust that I’d remember what you spent my whole life teaching me.

That in God we can do all things. In God we find peace. We find hope. We find joy. We find healing.

And in all truth, Ive been so angry…I forgot.

But tonight I remember.

And as my broken pieces slowly start falling back together, I’ll keep remembering.

Til we meet 🕊️
I love you, dad.
