It’s ! As we celebrate the American flag today, we also acknowledge the veterans whose service to our country has protected the freedoms the flag represents.

For you trivia lovers, did you know that in 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation establishing June 14 as Flag Day? Then, in 1949, President Harry Truman signed a bill, which officially made Flag Day a recognized holiday.

Thank you to the National Flag Foundation for the historical fact.

If you or someone you know is a veteran in need of support, we are here to help: loudoun.gov/veterans
