How can you locate non-metallic pipes, tubing, and conduits that don't have tracer wire? Here is one way. A Glass fiber locating reel like this has a copper core. A pipe locator transmitter is attached to the contact on the hub and send the locator signal down the lines as far as you can feed the rod. We have reels with 96' or 328' reels. When activated, the locate rod is as even more accurate than tracer wires since it's inside the pipe itself following it precisely both laterally and by depth.

The Sewerin Combiphon is a device for locating PVC pipe that doesn't have tracer wire. The generator is a control device for a "stopper" that attaches to a hydrant nozzle. Water is run through the stopper which generates a pulse wave of sound on the PVC, Transite, or Poly pipe. Then with an acoustic leak locator, you find the peak sound going down the pipe crossing perpendicular and marking the peak noise which is directly over the pipe. Sewerin also has specialized apps in some leak locator models to show the maximum peak sound as a numerical value for positive locating of the peak.
