Stay cool this Fourth of July! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Drink plenty of water, take breaks in the shade, and know the signs of heat illness:
β€’ Heavy sweating or hot, dry skin
β€’ Dizziness or headache
β€’ Nausea
β€’ Confusion
β€’ Fainting

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July!

Our crews have been training in drownings and pool rescue.

This was two evolutions:
A drowning/ cardiac arrest, that required rescue from the pool, and immediate CPR and airway interventions.

A simulated dive injury that involved paralysis, that required a more deliberate and careful extrication from the pool.

Something to take away:

If a person has a neck injury keep them floating above water so they can breathe and do not remove them from the pool. When possible, please allow your fire department to remove them to avoid any further injury to the neck.

Always remember to:

Never swim alone

If able to acquire CPR training

Don’t allow children unattended near pools
