Leander Democrats Together

One of our friends and neighbours is helping with a food box drive for students at Leander ISD that need food to take home for the holiday break. This is through a reputable group that does this each year, and provides these boxes home to our families in need. I am posting her request here and if you feel inclined to help out please do!

We have families that really need your help!
Most kids look forward to having two weeks out of school and the delights of the winter holiday break but for kids going home to empty pantries, the idea can be scary. I have been collecting boxes for this campaign for the past 6 years and every year I have seen the number of families in need, to increase. This year, Leander High School alone, has 120 families in need. I committed to collect 25 full donation (Box 1 + Box 2).
We can help fill part of this need by providing food to LISD families over the holiday break. It cost about $100-120 to feed a family during this holiday break. A full donation (Box 1 + Box 2) will feed a family of 4-5 people for 2 weeks.

The lists for Box 1 and Box 2 are attached to this signup. Anything will help and you have the option to make a full donation (Box 1 + Box 2), half donation - Box 1, half donation - Box 2 or a contribution in money.
Take your family to the grocery store and let them go through the list. Feel free to decorate the boxes for an added holiday touch! To help with the distribution, please assemble all items as indicated bellow:
Full donation - Box 1 + Box 2: you can split the food so the boxes are not too heavy. We pack each box with the same items, mark the outside with the box number, Box 1 or Box 2.
Half donation - Box 1: pack all items in a single cardbox and mark the outside with box number 1.
Half donation - Box 2: pack all items in a single cardbox and mark the outside with box number 2

Leander is a patchwork of districts: two counties, three house districts, three state senate districts, two congressional districts, two State Board of Education districts, two commissioner courts, just to name a few.
