My name is Vilma Martinez-Dominguez, many of you know me as Vilma Lora, and I’m running for Mayor in Lawrence’s upcoming elections. I’ve had the privilege to serve this community, where my family and I have lived, worked and raised our families for close to 30 years. Since I moved to Lawrence in the early 90s, I have worked, and continue to work hard, to fight for the issues that are important to
our residents. Through my work in the nonprofit and government sectors, and my many years of volunteering, I’ve been able to engage and mobilize the Lawrence community to address the issues that are most critical to our lives. Together, we have built partnerships and collaborations that have proven to be highly beneficial to our City, by leveraging significant resources and adopting innovative policies that have strengthened and improved conditions for our residents. I’ve been an advocate and a strong voice for change in our community to facilitate access to better and more just opportunities for our residents. Through the years, I’ve gained a greater perspective on the larger issues that make it difficult for families and communities to prosper, and interfere with efforts to improve the quality of life of our diverse residents. Only through responsible leadership, strong partnerships, and continued investment

Mi nombre es Vilma Martinez-Dominguez, muchos de ustedes me conocen como Vilma Lora y me postulo para alcalde en las próximas elecciones de Lawrence. He tenido el privilegio de servir a esta comunidad, donde mi familia y yo hemos vivido, trabajado y criado a nuestras familias durante casi 30 años. Desde que me mudé a Lawrence a principios de los 90, he trabajado y sigo trabajando duro para luchar por los problemas que son importantes para nuestros residentes. A través de mi trabajo en los sectores gubernamental y sin fines de lucro, y mis muchos años de voluntariado, he podido involucrar y movilizar a la comunidad de Lawrence para abordar los problemas de mayor importancia para nuestras vidas.
