CNN media crew, along with other journalists, was attacked by a group of Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank on July 11, 2026.

The incident occurred near the village of Sinjil, north of Ramallah, where the CNN crew and other reporters were present to cover the one-year anniversary of the death of Sayfollah Musallet, a 20-year-old Palestinian-American who was allegedly beaten to death by settlers. As the journalists attempted to leave the area, a group of four settlers blocked the road with their vehicle to prevent the media from advancing. The attackers were armed with wooden and metal rods, stones, and a knife. One settler brandished the knife and attempted to puncture the tires of the CNN vehicle.
The settlers also jumped onto the vehicle behind the CNN crew, which carried another group of journalists, and smashed its windshield. Another group of settlers attempted to block a different escape route and chased the journalists toward Sinjil.

U.S. Representative Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) was also recently detained by armed Israeli settlers while visiting the occupied West Bank in July 2026

Khanna was visiting Khirbet Zanuta, a small Palestinian hamlet in the southern West Bank, an area known for frequent settler assaults. According to Khanna, his group’s vehicle was encircled by settlers armed with U.S.-made M4 assault rifles. The settlers blocked the road and detained the group for over an hour. Khanna noted that when the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) arrived, they initially sided with the settlers and continued the detention
