More2Life is a Youth Development program that partners with parents and the community to increase awareness among youth that their choices affect their futures. We provide culturally relevant programs that
-ENABLE youth to set and achieve their goals, and
-EMPOWER them to build healthy relationships and avoid risky behaviors such as drugs, alcohol, and s*x outside of marriage.

Increased screen time correlates with rising rates of anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders in young people. Social media use is linked to body image issues, FOMO (fear of missing out), and reduced face-to-face social skills. Gaming addiction is now recognized as a legitimate mental health concern. Yet telling young people to just "put the phone down" doesn't work, and it doesn't address the real problem.

Here's what we're missing: Tech isn't the problem; balance is the solution.

Young people use technology for legitimate reasons such as connection, creativity, learning, and yes, sometimes escape. The problem comes when it's their PRIMARY way of coping, connecting, or spending time. When they're sacrificing sleep, in-person relationships, physical activity, and offline interests for screen time.

This isn't about being the "no screen" family. It's about raising young people who can use technology intentionally, who know how to live without it, and who prioritize their mental health and real-world relationships. That takes time, patience, and your involvement.

Every post, comment, share, and reaction is permanent. Once it's out there, a young person has lost control of it. But here's what many teens don't understand yet: The digital footprint they're creating RIGHT NOW is shaping their reputation, their opportunities, and sometimes their safety.

Digital citizenship isn't just about "don't post embarrassing things." It's about understanding that online actions have real consequences – socially, legally, and emotionally.

Adults: Model this behavior. Be the digital citizen you want young people to become. What you post matters too.

This Father's Day, we're celebrating every man showing up for young people: the biological dads, stepdads, grandfathers, uncles, coaches, mentors, and father figures who are shaping the next generation.

Being a positive male influence is profound work. You're teaching responsibility, integrity, vulnerability, and resilience. You're showing young people they matter and they're not alone. You don't have to be perfect – you just have to show up, listen, and believe in them.

Whether you're raising kids at home or mentoring in your community, your impact is immeasurable. Young people will remember that you were there. That you cared. That you believed in them first.
Thank you for the sacrifice, the patience, and the love. Your work is changing lives. Happy Father's Day to all of you.
