The poll finds Trone with a narrow lead in the primary race for the reliably blue seat: 34 percent of registered Democrats support Trone while 27 percent prefer Alsobrooks. The primary race remains wide open despite Trone’s spending of more than $23 million to Alsobrooks’s $2 million. Nearly 4 in 10 Democratic voters — 39 percent — haven’t yet picked a primary candidate.

Skyrocketing prescription drug prices are forcing Maryland legislators to look at several solutions to try to bring those costs down for citizens. One man who testified before Maryland’s Senate Finance Committee last week said he has to pay around $800 for just an ounce of medication.

Overall, crime increased in Montgomery County for the third year in a row. Legislative analyst Susan Farag laid out the data:
Auto thefts spiked by 131%. Carjackings rose by 28.6%. Crimes under the category “crimes against society,” including drug offenses, fell by 13.8%. Crimes under the category “crimes against persons,” including homicides, rose 6.6%.
