Anssi Mikola is a serial entrepreneur and the founder of RiverRecycle . He has built successful companies in the healthcare sector and is a valued mentor and chairperson for meaningful startups in life sciences and health tech. During a business trip to Asia, Anssi saw the global nature of plastic pollution with his own eyes and became convinced that cleaning up contributing rivers is an essential step to immediately halting ocean plastic pollution. Since then, he has been determined to develop a sustainable business model to solve the issue.
River Recycle is developing a concept to turn the ocean plastic eco catastrophe into a sustainable business. River Recycle's technology enables the collection of plastic waste from rivers in developing countries where the lack of sufficient waste handling systems is causing massive amounts of waste ending up in rivers and finally in the oceans. The waste is subsequently either recycled or incinerated to produce energy.
