We would like to invite you to join the Great Lake Conference on Food Protection (GLCFP) Membership. We are preparing for another great year. We are planning our biennial conference where our members propose changes to the Michigan Food Law and the FDA Model Food Code! The biennial meeting will be held in Big Rapids at the District Health Department # 10 Offices on March 14th, 2017. The address of DHD # 10 is 14485 Northland Drive, Big Rapids, Michigan.

During this meeting we will elect a new Vice President and Secretary, update you on the successes at the last National Conference on Food Protection, discuss and vote on changes to the Constitution, and we will be debating the submitted issues (proposed changes to the Food Code or Law). Attached is a form where you can submit your suggestions for changes to the Food Law or Food Code. Make sure you document the reasoning for the change. Issues wishing to be considered must be submitted to Natasha Horne at [email protected] no later than March 1, 2017. During the last national Conference on Food Protection, we presented 12 issues and were extremely successful.

Proposed changes to the Food Law will be forwarded to the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development proposed changes to the FDA Model Food Code will be submitted to the next national Conference on Food Protection.

The Michigan Environmental Health Association Annual Education Conference is then being held in Big Rapids on March 15th and 16th, 2017 and we encourage you to go to their website for more information http://www.meha.net/AEC .
