Men are nearly four times more likely to die by su***de than women.
Awareness matters, but action matters more. Behind the statistics are fathers, sons, brothers, friends, and coworkers.
This Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s make it easier for men to ask for help and be heard.
Pride began as resistance, and its message remains as important as ever: visibility, safety, dignity, and belonging matter.
As Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners in Old Town Lansing, where Pride will be celebrated this weekend, we see firsthand how affirming spaces can positively impact mental health and well-being. Last year, Lansing Pride brought nearly 30,000 people together, a powerful reminder of the strength and importance of community.
To our LGBTQIA+ neighbors, patients, friends, families, and community members: you deserve care that honors who you are, safety that includes you, and the freedom to live authentically and fully as yourself.
Happy Pride, Lansing. You belong here.

Trauma is not something we should compare.
A single event, repeated exposure, or witnessing something deeply distressing can all impact the nervous system. The brain and body may stay in survival mode long after the moment has passed.
What feels manageable to one person may feel overwhelming to another, and that does not make their response less real.
This PTSD Awareness Month, lead with compassion, not judgment.

Mental health terms are often misunderstood or used interchangeably — but they’re not always the same thing.
😔 Sadness vs Depression
😰 Stress vs Anxiety
🧹 Cleanliness vs Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Understanding the difference helps reduce stigma, encourages empathy, and reminds people that mental health conditions are more than personality traits or temporary emotions.
You never truly know what someone is battling internally.
If you’re going through a tough time, you don’t have to face it on your own. Support is here whenever you need it.
You do not have to wait until things are at their worst to deserve support.
Struggling is not failure, it is a signal that something needs care. Mental health symptoms are not character flaws.
Anxiety, depression, burnout, and mood changes are real, common, and treatable. They do not define you.
Healing is about finding what works for you with the right support.

June is PTSD Awareness Month
PTSD is often misunderstood as just “flashbacks,” but trauma can show up in many ways: in emotions, in the body, in thoughts, in relationships, and in how safe someone feels in the world.
⚠️ Hypervigilance
😴 Sleep struggles
🧠 Memory issues
😟 Anxiety and panic
🚪 Avoidance
💔 Emotional numbness
😡 Irritability
Not all trauma is visible, and not everyone’s symptoms look the same. Many people living with PTSD are carrying silent battles while trying to appear “fine” on the outside.
Healing is not linear, and every person’s path looks different. This month is about raising awareness, reducing stigma, and reminding people that compassion, support, and understanding can make a difference.

Habits like constant overthinking, isolating yourself, pushing past burnout, negative self-talk, or comparing yourself online can quietly wear down your mental health over time.
They don’t always feel serious in the moment—but over time, they can affect your mood, energy, and self-worth. The good news is awareness is the first step to change. Small shifts in how you care for yourself can make a real difference.
