Chinese state-backed energy giant Huaneng has deployed 100 unmanned electric mining trucks at the Yimin coal mine in Inner Mongolia — the world’s largest driverless fleet.
Built with Huawei’s autonomous driving tech, the trucks use AI, 5G-Advanced, cloud computing, and smart battery swapping.
Each truck runs on a 564 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, carries up to 90 metric tons, and can operate in extreme cold down to -40°C.
The self-driving trucks can load and unload materials on their own and are designed to work in harsh weather and rough mining conditions.
