Join the next cohort of Peer Support volunteers at The Nest!
👀 We’re looking for Lansing-area locals who have reached mental health goals and want to help others trying to do the same! Onboarding for our next cohort of volunteers starts July 10!
The Nest provides free Peer Support to adult residents of Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties who are trying to achieve positive mental health but need a little extra help to get there.
Peer Support volunteers lend between 4-10 hours per month of their time providing general support to 1-2 locals who are also hoping to achieve goals towards better mental health.
Requirements for volunteering include:
> Experience reaching mental health goals
> History using services/resources in the Lansing area
> Minimum 6 month commitment
> Access to the internet, web browser, and Zoom
> Between July 10 and August 9, attend cohort onboarding, which includes 3 two-hour virtual sessions (which are offered at various times to accommodate volunteers’ schedules) and 1 two-hour self-paced webinar
Benefits of volunteering with The Nest include:
🖤 Flexibility to pick your own schedule and location (remotely or in-person)
🖤 Get free evidence-based training and learn new skills you can use at future jobs in the human services field
🖤 Make mental health recovery possible for more people
Is this you?
> You’ve encountered barriers and setbacks, which is okay, because our participants do, too
> The challenges you’ve faced have caused a disruption to relationships, school, working, or daily life
> You are able to identify the things that worked for you while recognizing the merits of others’ unique pathways
If so, fill out the interest form to get started!👇🏽
