“From Zero to Hero.”
Hopefully by the time you receive this newsletter Mary will have received her package (photos next month, Lord willing). She is about to become a very “popular” person in her village in that she will have electrical power and lights (over 93% of Ugandans do not)! What little monies she is able to cobble together NOW can be spent on the needs of her family. What is more she is about to be one of the few, maybe the only person, in her village with 99.9% PURE water (most Ugandans do not have access to clean water).
Currently she is not a strong Christian, but because some members of her Christian family in America, unknown to her, loved her and her kids in Christ enough to actually DO something to help. Make absolutely no mistake about this —- no less than Almighty God is reaching out to her, her kids and her village through this SIMPLE ACT OF KINDNESS!
Mary’s life is going to change soon for the better. Her life and that of her children will literally be extended by years by this simple and painless act on our part. Is that worth $10 a month “extra” in your giving?
Peter believes that as we reach out to her with the love of Jesus in this tangible way (she also was sent OTC medicine and vitamins) that it will cause a ripple effect in her community opening further doors for evangelism. The Muslims are not doing this for people. The animists sit in darkness and drink out of muddy pools. . . .and now suddenly a widow woman, lowest on the social totem pool. . . .has bright lights and pure water . . .FREE? I can hear some of the village elders saying “how can these things happen?” And I can hear Pastor Peter respond “men let me tell you about Jesus and His great love for you all.” Is this conversation worth $10 “extra” a month in your giving?
