Trademark Images & Printing Reproductions:
What You Need to Know

When it comes to printing and reproducing artwork, logos, or brand imagery, trademark law matters! While it doesn't happen often, we do occasionally get brought things that we legally cannot reproduce. Here's some quick tips for making sure you are using an image appropriately:

🔥 Typically allowed 🔥:

- Printing trademarked images when the customer provides written permission or a valid license from the trademark owner

- Reproductions for personal use where the customer already owns the rights

- Editorial or informational prints (training materials, news, education) that don’t imply endorsement

🚫 Typically not allowed 🚫:

- Printing trademarked logos, characters, or brand images for resale, giveaways, or promotions without authorization

- Reproducing trademarks on merchandise (shirts, signs, decals, banners, etc.) without licensing

- Altering trademarked images in ways that could confuse consumers or dilute the brand

If a requested print includes trademarked or licensed images and permission cannot be verified, we will decline the job. This protects both our customers and our shop from potential legal issues. Trademark owners are required to enforce their rights, and printers can be held responsible for unauthorized reproductions —even if the artwork was supplied by the customer. This list includes *but is not limited to*:

- Reproducing gift cards purchased at the drugstore

- Scanning a school photo and reprinting it in different sizes

- Printing images off the internet
