February 5th is Western Monarch Day!

Did you know that the Monarch butterfly migration is one of the longest insect migrations in the world? Some butterflies travel close to 3,000 miles! Interestingly, when butterflies migrate south, it is a single generation that flies all the way to their overwintering grounds. However, on the trek back north it takes multiple generations to reach the final destination. Each generation flies a part of the route before laying eggs and passing the task to the next generation.

Checked out the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum. Kids had a blast looking at the beauties.
