FHWA hears you and is looking for a vision that honors a vital cause!

For the first time in the Department's history, the FHWA has launched a Design Challenge for the National Memorial to Fallen Highway Workers. This memorial will stand as a national symbol of remembrance for workers who have lost their lives in highway work zones and a reminder of our ongoing mission for safer roads.

If you are a designer, architect, or creator with a compelling vision and a feasible implementation plan, we want to hear from you.

Submission Deadline: October 20, 2026
