While range per charge does take a hit in winter, EVs offer insane acceleration, even when super frozen, since don’t have to warm up any engine. And cabin heat is immediate. 🥰
All Lithium batteries must however be above freezing to charge them. After sitting for weeks way below freezing , the electrified ex-FedEx van we converted was already immediately ready to drive, and within about thirty mins ready to charge and begin allowing regenerative braking.
Battery temp went from 12°F to 33°F using Tesla’s stock BMS and coveted thermal management system, all reverse engineered in 2020 by ampREVOLT.
